Arrival and
Departure
K+
runs from approximately 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
Monday through Friday. Parents may drop off children at 8:15 a.m. Children
who ride a bus will arrive at K+ between 8:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The
afternoon K+ program has its home at McDonald Elementary, and
the morning K+ program has its home at West Park Elementary. Children will
be bussed midday, as appropriate, between kindergarten and K+. All children
in K+ will be escorted to a lunchroom where they may have a school lunch or
lunch from home. After lunch, children will be escorted to kindergarten or
K+ as indicated. Children who attend the afternoon K+ program are dismissed
from school at 3 p.m.
Attendance
and Absences
Attendance will be taken each day at your child’s home school and K+ staff
will be notified of any absences. If your child will not be attending K+
because of illness, appointments, vacations or other reasons, please
call your child’s home school. Please do not send your child to K+
if he/she shows any signs of illness. If your child becomes ill during K+
hours, we will provide a place to rest until a parent or guardian is
notified.
Lunch
The kitchen staff at will need to know how many K+ children are having the
school lunch everyday. Parents will receive a copy of the lunch menu on a
monthly basis and are asked to inform their child’s regular Kindergarten
teacher which days their child will be having school lunch. Families who
qualify for reduced or free lunch should fill out an application and submit
it to the secretary at their child’s home school.
Snacks
Please let us know if
your child has any food allergies, as snacks will be offered.
Communication
Parents should feel free to talk with the K+ staff about their child and
his/her activities. The staff will communicate with parents as needed.
Discipline
The K+ program adheres to the standard kindergarten discipline policy.
Volunteers
There
may be times when an extra pair of hands is needed. If you are interested in
volunteering in the classroom or going on field trips, please let us know so
that we can schedule accordingly. Parents are also invited to share their
expertise with our students. Please tell us if you would like to make a
special presentation that would benefit and enhance the K+ program.
