ART

Philosophy

Since the dawn of civilization, men and women have used art to transmit their heritage and express their deepest feelings of beauty, joy, and sorrow. This artistic expression is often said to be the true means by which a civilization is measured.

For this reason, art must be considered a part of the core of common learning which is based upon. mankind's consequential ideas, experience, and traditions.

Art is a class for all students, Art must not be viewed as merely a fun thing, a frill, or as a relief from academic subjects. The creative skills, aesthetic responsiveness, and visual sensitivity learned in art classes can contribute to a lifetime of enjoyment and self-fulfillment. Art's relevancy must be established within the context of the total school, the community, and the life of every student.
