McDonald students enjoy learning about music through active experiences with:
 | singing - every class does at least one performance each year |
| keyboards - all students in 1st through 6th grade have keyboard lessons every year |
| recorders - students in 3rd through 6th grade play these woodwind instruments every year |
| ukuleles - 4th through 6th grade students learn to accompany folk songs on the ukes |
| drums - we all play a variety of drums including bongos, djembes, dumbeks, buffalo drums, hand drums, tom-toms, paddle drums, and tongue drums |
| rhythm instruments - we learn about the music of other cultures as we make music with a nice collection of percussion instruments from all around the world |
| xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels - all students enjoy playing these every year |
| hand chimes - we have a large set of hand chimes that all students get a chance to play every year. |
