Program Components

The Developmental Preschool Program includes many components--our morning class, a language group, and individual speech and language therapy.  We also serve children who are eligible for special education services in various preschools in the community.

The preschool classroom looks much like any preschool with activities, toys and materials to enrich and enhance the learning that takes place there. Our daily activities include Circle Time, Story Time, Gross Motor Activity, Snack and Free Choice Time with various activity centers. We have many early childhood programs for our Touch Screen computer and it is a favorite activity in the room. This integrated classroom includes "peer partners" who provide opportunities for communication and social experiences.

Speech and Language services are provided in small groups or individually, based on the needs of the child. These sessions generally take place at the Preschool in the afternoon.

Children are sometimes served at the Moscow Lewis-Clark Early Childhood Program. We have two staff members who work there to meet the needs of the children who are experiencing delays in their development.

Referrals for evaluation and services are also made by local preschool and day care providers. Evaluations and determination for eligibility for services are then determined through the Developmental Preschool staff, with input from parents.
