Welcome to K+
The Moscow School District is pleased to offer this exciting program to the community!
K+ is offered during the school day before and after regular kindergarten classes.
The mission of the K+ program is to enrich your child's school experience by providing
a variety of enjoyable extracurricular activities in a safe and socially diverse
environment. These activities include, but are not limited to:
Students are selected via a lottery system and are limited to 22 students per site. A $50 deposit is required at the time of enrollment, typically during kindergarten registration days in early April. The tuition for the K+ Program is $11 per day based on the number of school days in each month, billed in advance, on a monthly basis.
K+ runs from approximately 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
Monday through Friday. Parents may drop off children at 8:15 a.m. Children who ride a bus
will arrive at K+ between 8:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The afternoon K+ program has its home at
McDonald Elementary, and the morning K+ program has its home at West Park Elementary.
Children who attend Lena and are in the K+ Program will be bussed midday, as appropriate,
to either McDonald or West Park Elementary. All children in K+ will be escorted to a
lunchroom where they may have a school lunch or lunch from home. After lunch, children
will be escorted to kindergarten or K+ as indicated. Children who attend the afternoon K+
program are dismissed from school at 3 p.m.
Attendance will be taken each day at your child's home school and K+ staff will be notified of any absences. If your child will not be attending K+ because of illness, appointments, vacations or other reasons, please call your child's home school. Please do not send your child to K+ if he/she shows any signs of illness. If your child becomes ill during K+ hours, we will provide a place to rest until a parent or guardian is notified.
Students can participate in our breakfast and lunch program. Parents will
receive a copy of the lunch menu on a monthly basis and are asked to inform their child's
kindergarten teacher which days their child will be having school lunch. Families who
qualify for reduced or free lunch should fill out an application and submit it to the
secretary at their home school.
Please let us know if your child has any food allergies, as snacks will be offered.
Parents should feel free to talk with the K+ staff about their child and his/her activities. The staff will communicate with parents as needed.
The K+ program adheres to the standard kindergarten discipline policy.
There may be times when an extra pair of hands is needed. If you are
interested in volunteering in the classroom or going on field trips, please let us know so
that we can schedule accordingly. Parents are also invited to share their expertise with
our students. Please tell us if you would like to make a special presentation that would
benefit and enhance the K+ program.
