Facilities Planning Committee

History: The Facilities Committee existed prior to the creation of the Strategic Plan. During the 1999-2000 year, the committee worked with The Matrix Group from Coeur d'Alene to finish the Master Facilities Plan for the District. From 2002-2003, committee work continued, however, no facilities measures were advanced to the Board. During 2003-2004 and 2004-2005, a new Facilities Planning Committee (FPC) was established. After two years of work, the FPC advanced a recommendation for a $29 million bond election held April 26, 2005. This measure failed at the polls.

In the fall of 2005, the FPC evolved into the Facilities Task Force. The identified task of the committee was to develop a plan to meet the needs of the West Park and Russell student populations and identify other pressing facilities needs with the intention of developing a proposal not greater than $15 million. After months of developing three possible options and other (supplemental) needs, survey data showed that all options lacked sufficient community support to be placed on a ballot. This Task Force went on “sabbatical leave” during the 2006-2007 school year while the District prepared for a March 27, 2007 election to increase the Indefinite Term Supplemental Levy.
