Citing Images and Works of Art
(Page updated 9/28/21)
Images from the Internet
Anytime you use information that does not belong to you, you must give credit to the author or creator. This is also true for images. The internet is a wealth of images that are easily searchable using image search engines such as
Google Images. Most images found on the internet are copyright protected. Credit needs to be given to the person who created the image by citing the image in its original content.
Steps for determining the creator of an image found on
Google Images:
- Click on the image to enlarge the image.
- Click on the link "Visit page." The original web page for the image will open.
- Use the information from this page to create a citation for the image.
