Insurance Committee

Purpose: The purpose of the Insurance Committee is to evaluate the health insurance contract; receive input from members on the schedule of benefits and premium costs of the Group Policy; review the options with a broker and the provider; and make recommendations to the Superintendent for the Board of Trustees prior to renewal of the Group Policy. Member representatives educate their respective staffs on health insurance issues and receive input from constituents.

Meetings: The Committee meets on scheduled Wednesdays of every month, September through May, from 3:30 - 5 PM, with a possible second meeting in October prior to the recommendation to the Superintendent and Board of Trustees.

Membership: Members of the Committee represent certified, classified, and retired district employees who are members of the group insurance plan. Membership is distributed as follows: two representatives from Moscow High School, two from Moscow Junior High, one from each elementary school, one representing retired members still covered by the plan, one from payroll/benefits, two classified employee representatives, the school nurse, the District Business Manager, and an appointed Moscow Education Association (MEA) representative. The chair of the committee is elected annually.
